Coding Trainer

To apply, send your CV to clem@codebrave.org

Start date

16 September 2019

Overview

CodeBrave is seeking a Coding Trainer to teach Coding classes for youth aged 8-17. For older students (14-17 years old), the curriculum focuses on real-world web development languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the React framework, guiding students to create websites based on their personal interests. For 11-13 year olds, the curriculum uses block-based coding software (Scratch, MakeCode) to progress student’s computational thinking and integrates gaming software (CodeMonkey, CodeCombat) to get students to start writing real code in a fun and compelling way. For the youngest students (8-10), the course introduces them to computers and teaches the most basic concepts of coding using Microsoft’s CS Fundamentals course, Hello Ruby and Robot Turtles.

The Trainer will also be responsible for developing students’ soft skills through fun, project-based classes that build their confidence, resilience, teamwork skills and motivation to learn. Ultimately, the objective of the position is to improve students’ job prospects, whether in the tech field or elsewhere.

  • In close collaboration with the Project Managers, help carry out ongoing Monitoring & Evaluation of progress toward all four course objectives (basic literacy, basic numeracy, soft skills and technical skills) through in-class and end-term assessments.

  • Participate in teacher training, both technical and pedagogical.
